Why Speakers Acting
Everyone recognizes the situation: an event is on the agenda where something has to be presented, and three central questions arise:
Who’s going to take on the presentation, who can present most convincingly?
What is our message, what exactly should be presented at all?
What’s the best way to reach our audience?
Most speakers are the same: they want to easily explain (sometimes complex) contexts, technologies or strategies on the content level, they want to present something new or unexpected and want to invite a change of perspective. On the presentation level, they face the challenge of keeping on topic and staying within a given time. There is also the demand to want to entertain and not be boring.
Speakers Acting addresses precisely these desired factors. In a three-part, 1 to 2-day training course, a matrix is developed together with the participants, to help each speaker evaluate his or her presentation according to its content, individual identification and attractiveness of his or her style, and present it accordingly.
Trainings can be held at your company or at our training location in Hamburg, or even in a theater or other location in your city.
What is Speakers Acting
Speakers Acting is a modern presentation training integrating elements from standardized acting training. Participants do not become actors, but rather performers capable of acting, supported by newly discovered alternatives. Acting is therefore understood as a lively, actionable appearance and conscious and appealing behavior in front of an audience. A deeper understanding of the laws to be observed on any kind of stage is imparted: permanent presence, interaction with the audience, expressive messages conveyed by charismatic and self-confident ambassadors. A selling approach in the form of a concrete request for action is always considered and addressed.
In this training, participants learn how to present themselves in a more entertaining, flexible and authentic way in front of an audience. They learn to determine their own setting or to integrate easily into an already existing 'stage design'.
Procedure of Speakers Acting
Training participants first receive an assessment of their current position, followed by instructions on how to move on to the next level of their individual presentation skills.
The training is structured in three parts that build on one another. Didactically speaking, they are the common thread joining the skills to be trained. The focus is always on the individual strengths of each participant. This is made possible by individually adapted presentation coaching.
Drive Me
First, personal strengths and weaknesses are elicited in order to determine clearly each participant’s inner attitude which can then be manifested consistently throughout the training. This helps possible patterns and unwanted habits to come to the surface and be purposefully changed. This extends each participant’s range.
Drive Performance
Different teaching methods raise the awareness of each participant’s requirements or what they need to change in order to clearly guide the audience through their own presentation from start to finish. Gestures will be trained which participants will be able to call upon consciously as required. It can be shown, if desired, how to deal successfully with questions from the audience or critical remarks and other disturbances, or with the fact that sometimes there is little or no time available for preparation.
Drive Content
Participants are given ideas on how to better organize themselves so that they can prepare their content more successfully. They learn how important a self-developed script is for a presentation with which the speaker can identify in order to achieve authenticity and thus persuasiveness.
A special added value of the training lies in the direct feedback during the training presentation of each individual participant. Speakers receive specific stage directions to help modify their presentation style. If required, staging challenges can be trained in different scenarios. Dealing with required gadgets on stage, such as tablets, screens or post-its, or the presence of and presentation in front of interactive holo-projections can be developed in the same way as standardized PowerPoint presentations – ultimately the customer decides which format they personally prefer.
Video feedback as well as feedback from other training participants support the learning success.
Excerpt from the training sessions:
Leading in dialog
Adequate use of personal means of expression – facial expressions, gestures and voice
Work on posture and breathing (also to reduce stress)
Creation of a presentation script in order to convey the desired balance between facts, data and emotions
Benefits of Speakers Acting
Training participants learn the characteristics of a “good speaker” and are able to relate them to themselves. They learn about alternative courses of action that enable them to be remembered by their audience – if the speaker is remembered as an ambassador, their message will also be remembered. The speaker becomes more present – which means the solution/product also becomes more present. This is precisely where training participants notice that they have it in their hands to be able to correspond to their image at any time and, among other things, to let their assessment results increase. They will be able to assess their own recognition value and develop it further.
To conclude: Presentations will be easier to hold, as working on them will be seen as an opportunity – not a must on a Goal Sheet.
